From the Porch at The Spa

Nothing but spine tingling excitement and hustle and bustle. That only happens in the month of August at Saratoga. With the conclusion of sales week peppered buy a giant storm that canceled racing, postponed a horse auction and knocked trees down all over the place, we just happened to be sitting in the right place at the right time. With a bucket of Heineken's and friends watching the races from the porch, we watched as the front moved in. Sitting there just enjoying the day we saw it all unfold firsthand. Then with a ton of scratches in the 8th race, we went from being the one horse in a five horse field with mud to not running at all. For about 15 fleeting minutes I really felt like our third win was within our grasp. But then mother nature and the racing gods frowned down upon us and dashed all of our hopes of competing with a momentous storm which forced the rest of the races to be canceled.
But hope springs eternal and the race is back on tomorrow as the 11th race in a gigantic card with the quality racing that Saratoga is known for. Our horse Sanctify will try (we hope) to reverse his form and give us some excitement like he used to last season. Win, lose or draw it's always exciting to have a horse running at The Spa. If you're around, stop by and join us in the paddock as we wish everybody good luck on Alabama Day 2016. It doesn't get any better than this: the best sport played out doors!
