The Ride Of Your Life, LLC

For those of you who are beginners and have never owned a horse before, here is a brief tutorial on what to look for in a racing prospect.

First lets start off with the Sire, in this case a well established proven Stallion by the name of Candy Ride. He is a Grade 1 Stakes winning sire who has already produced enough grade 1 stakes winning runners to fill up a page. His progeny  run short or long and many have won Graded stakes at classic distances. He also represents a good outcross, with a lot of South American bloodlines running through his veins, which excites our Genetics department.

Our horse (a big beautiful specimen) is out of the multiple graded stakes winning dam Unbridled Hope, who ran with some of the best race mares of her generation namely: Banshee Breeze, Keeper Hill, Tap to the Music, Madame Blum and Beautiful Pleasure, just to name a few.  Unbridled Hope registered a 105 lifetime high Beyer, and just so we know that wasn't a fluke, she backed that up with a 103 and a 102 beyer in subsequent starts.  In fact, in her last 7 starts she never ran a Beyer # lower than a 93. With 15 starts and 6 wins and 4 thirds she was only out of the money 5 times and that was when she was just getting started with her illustrious career.  She is also a 100% winner producer with all of her racing foals, winning races. There is a substantial amount of class in this family and this bodes well for our Big Boy. Class begets Class.

The thing about the 2yo sales is you watch horse after horse scamper down the lane as fast as they can go. Most are trying really hard with all their might to get to the wire as fast as possible because the fast times usually bring the big dollars. Every once in awhile you see a horse going nice and easy and you think: "well this sucker is slow as a turtle and then the time pops up. You may see a fast time that surprises you then you quickly make note of that number and press rewind and watch again. The horse that you are reading about is just that kind of horse and I feel very fortunate to have gotten him. The fastest 10th of a mile at the sale I attended was 9 and 4/5ths seconds. This big, easy going, long striding sucka went in 10 flat. I went up to the barn to see him and now I am starting to fall in love. He is actually a tall long striding horse with a great walk and a sharp eye. He has a nice big throat latch, because if they can't breathe they can't run, and has a beautiful way of going. He also has good bone and all the parts are on right and they all move in unison. He is by a speedy 2yo Florida sire Wildcat Heir, who is known for speedy early horses. Wildcat Heir himself was a very precocious and classy 2yo, winning an early 2yo maiden special and then placing in the Sanford, a prestigious stake for 2yo colts at Saratoga!

We have had such fun running our Louisiana Breds in Louisiana. Besides the excitement of being in New Orleans and enjoying an absolutely beautiful racetrack, we picked up a win and 4 thirds in 5 starts at Fairgrounds this past Winter and Spring and we are just getting started. I love racing in Louisiana; the purses are fantastic, the food is fabulous and what a fun place with such a fun loving group of people. We've had so much fun that we decided to step up to the plate big time this year and take a shot at some of the big time purses that are available on Delta Jackpot Day at Delta Downs and Louisiana Champions Day at Fairgrounds.

I went looking for some real nice big strong 'Rajun Cajun' horses that looked like they could really kick some ass and this is one that really made an impression on me. He is by a hot young million $ plus graded stakes winning son of Giant's Causeway and out of a stakes winning mare who won her 2 stakes as a 2yo, showing brilliance and precocity at a young age!

Our Derby Hopeful, LLC

Pulpit is HOT but hasn't he always been?
He is as consistent as the day is long and has the ability to come up with a top class horse on a regular basis. He is arguably one of the best sons of the great Seattle Slew to go to the breeding shed and he certainly lived up to his daddy's prowess.

This 2yo colt by Pulpit is a site to behold. He is from the direct family of Rutherienne and Ruthian, both graded stakes winners by Pulpit, so we know the cross works and the blood of champions runs through his veins. Ruthereienne just happens to be Pulpit's second leading earner with earnings of well over 1.4 million dollars.

"This pedigree just makes so much sense and works very well" says Alan Porter, top pedigree analyst and top thoroughbred geneticist. He was instrumental in planning this mating and felt like Pulpit was a natural choice for the powerful mare AveryMerryMoment, the daughter of another champion sire, Distorted Humor.  While we are talking champion bloodlines this colt is bred on the same cross that produced Tapit, one of the current leading sires today.

Black Gold Racing, LLC

Parting Glass Racing is very proud to present the next candidate for one of our most exciting and popular partnerships.  Despite the high demand and popularity of our first LA-Bred, I wanted to find just the right horse to continue the tradition of sending a very well bred horse, that is bred in Louisiana, down to compete at the allowance and stake level at Fair Grounds Race Course.  This racing meet is the most prestigious racing meet in Louisiana.  This horse, with his giant stature and aggressive nature, will likely clean up at Fair Grounds in NOLA!  He is a monster.  His sire is the Multiple Grade 1 stakes winning and classic runner Lion Heart!  He also happens to be the sire of Grade 1 stakes winners like the Breeders’ Cup Champion Dangerous Midge ($1,798,000), Grade 1 Arkansas Derby winner Line of David ($662,000) and Grade 2 West Virginia Derby winner Soul Warrior ($640,000)!

Ready For Therapy, LLC

We’ve got some excitement heading your way this summer and her name is Ready For Therapy. If you are looking for the kind of Therapy that gets you out of your seat and jumping up and down like a crazy person, gets your heart racing and your blood flowing, lets you stretch your vocal chords and sing falsettos, the likes of which only the great Pavarotti had achieved, than this Therapy session is just right for you! It comes in the form of a beautiful sleek racing machine. The kind that dreams are made of. This filly was made by breeding a full brother to Giant’s Causeway, a sensational stallion named Freud, a champion sire in his own right to a stakes producing daughter of More Than Ready, a champion at 2 and the leading 2yo of his generation. The mother of this racing machine’s name is Ms. Readiness and she already has two 2yo runners out of 2 foals to her credit. One of them was a 2yo winner in her first asking at Belmont Park against open company. This Freud filly is only her third offspring and Freud is by far the best stallion she has yet to be bred to. The Storm Cat/Southern Halo cross is an exceptional one having produced 10 Graded Stakes horses including 7 Grade 1 Stakes winners!

Celebrate We Will, LLC

If size and stature is what you are looking for in a race horse than this Big Boy is the one for you. You know we think a lot of the beautiful copper monster otherwise we wouldn’t name him: Celebrate We Will! By his stature and long stride I would say we are looking at a two turn horse who will have some nice tactical speed and some speed to spare when he needs it. Celebrate We Will is a very intelligent patient horse who has an all knowing type of personality. 'He sees, he goes, he conquers' could be his motto if he was a warrior of old. I think when push comes to shove he will be a horse who will rate and relax until the jock pushes the accelerator. He is by the Classic distance and championship sire Malibu Moon, a great horse in his own right. Responsible for him is the 800lb Gorilla Daddy in AP Indy and the Godzilla of all Sires, the immortal Seattle Slew, rounding out the top line. Dehere Of The Dog, a classy race mare herself and no stranger to stakes company, is the mother of this nice colt and she being by Dehere fortifies the stamina and good sense in his well-balanced pedigree. This cross represents all kinds of classy runners including this year’s KY Derby Starter, Take Charge Indy, as well as 38 Stakes winners, including another Derby Starter, Perspective, on the same cross and a direct 3 parts brother to SW Vanderkay!

City Broad's Big Little Sister, LLC

Every once in a while a horse comes along that captivates your attention and stimulates your raw emotion.  They etch a place in your memories as one of the most exciting horses you’ve raced in quite some time.  We had a horse like that and her name was City Broad!

We are now lucky enough to own her 3yo full sister named Zippity Goomba. She is in training with Gayle Woods at Nelson Jones Training Center in Ocala, Florida. She will be trained in New York by veteran NY trainer Bruce Levine. Bruce put the finishing touches on City Broad and, as a result, she earned over $200,000 for us in a season and a ½ of racing.
